I also have a LOT of alternate "language" versions of fantasy/horror/SF titles - as you know some were produced again well in the Fifties, like the two versions of Julien Duvivier's "Marianne of My Youth" and the two of "Le passe-muraille" by Jean Boyer, with Bourvil and Joan Greenwood, the English one being called "Mr. Peek-a-Boo"..todslaughterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12129598743045100026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3734990207404232873.post-25853065981407680222013-11-26T14:55:06.717+00:002013-11-26T14:55:06.717+00:00Sorry, but if "The Tunnel", directed by ...Sorry, but if "The Tunnel", directed by Maurice Elvey, is a British remake of both "Der Tunnel" and "Le tunnel" (both directed simultaneously by Kurt Bernhardt in Germany with two different casts) - in the other hand, the three versions of "FP1 antwortet nicht" were German productions, shot in three different languages and all three directed by the same director, Karl Hartl. Maybe there was an "agreement" between an English company and the German Producer for the English-speaking version, but in spite of the language, "FP1 Doesn't Answer" was a German production and is listed as such in all German sources, and the same goes for the French-language version, "IF1 ne répond plus".
Incidentally I have seen the French version, considered as "lost", in a complete, sound 9.5mm print in 1963. I also saw the French-language version of "Gold", also directed by Karl Hartl and called "L'or", in 9.5mm as well. Both prints were found at the Flea Market in Paris. Apparently they were sold, later, to a German collector and can appear at some movie conventions. The 35mm prints of these French-language versions being considered as lost, it would be urgent to restore and preserve these old 9.5mm prints...
todslaughterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12129598743045100026noreply@blogger.com
